Newbie here - MA2 v. PH2? is there really a difference?

I know, the answer has to be yes. I'm running MA2s now with my turntable. I never knew MA offered specific phono cables. My table sounds great now but upgrading tomorrow from a pro-ject DC esprit to a new VPI Prime Scout and figure with the new table comes new and possibly proper cables. Any advice on which cables to get, assuming the MA2s are the wrong ones? TIA!

EDIT: just realized I'm using the MA2 between my amp and preamp, so I guess I am using them correctly. Using some basic crappy cables between the tt and the premp, so any thoughts on which phono cables to get? Budget probably around $200.

For a turntable application, you want to use our PH series of phono cables, which are shielded. Our MA series interconnects are not shielded. Using them on a turntable could cause hum.

Thanks! PH4s and MA4s should arrive today!

The operative word is "could" cause hum. I had some issues with my PH7's a while back. While figuring out the issue, I put some MA series cables in the mix on my turntable. No hum.
